Internships
IUP Computer Science programs have a well-earned
reputation for producing interns that draw high praise from the industries
which sponsor them. A Computer Science internship normally lasts
one semester and one summer (Summer/Fall or Spring/Summer); the minimum
length is 23 weeks. Interns are paid and earn 12 academic credits.
They also gain valuable experience that they can cite on their resumes.
The most common type of position that interns get these days involves 3-tier
architecture, working on one or more of the components; however, there
are a wide variety of positions and companies.
Qualifications for Applying:
You must be a junior. Internships are taken during the second semester
of the junior year or the first semester of the senior year.
You should have completed or be currently taking all of the following courses:
COSC 105, 110, 210, 220, 300, 310, 319, 341, and 380. No more than one exception
to this list is allowed.
For unconditional approval, you must have a GPA in Computer Science of 3.0
or higher and an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher. For conditional approval, you must
have a GPA in Computer Science of 2.5 or higher and an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
You must agree to return to IUP as a full-time student for at least one semester
after completing the internship; and during that time you must take at least one COSC
course numbered above 400.

his phone number is 724-357-7917 .
The following table shows the interns since 2003. This is just a sample of all of the
students who have been interns. The internship program has existed nearly as long as
the Computer Science Department has (about 30 years). This table is meant to illustrate
the wide range of companies what have sponsored interns recently.
